We have finally replaced the tyres on the Prado after 52,000 Km's, 32,000 kms of this across some of the toughest roads for tyres in the WA Kimberley region.
Prior to our Kimberley trip we replaced the stock Prado tyres with 5 new BFGOODRICH All-Terrain T/A LT265/70 R17 121/118R tyres. The proved to be fantastic and we managed no punctures throughout the entire trip, amazing really given the terrain we traversed. We put this down to the quality of the tyres, tyre pressure management and not speeding on the rough.
We have replaced the tyres with the new model BFGOODRICH All-Terrain tyres released a year or so ago the ALL-TERRAIN T/A KO2 (LT265/70R17 121S). By all accounts they have stronger side walls and an improved tread pattern, Certainly looking at them they appear to have more tread on the wall which should provide more grip in sand and mud. So far they don't seem any louder on the bitumen than the previous model.
Tyres should never be taken for granted and getting a quality set of off road use is worth the investment. We will keep you posted on how they perform.
